Yoga Asanas for Neck Pain

In today’s busy lifestyle with corporate jobs and stress, our body takes a toll on everything. We can’t take care of our body the way we should. The first body part that takes toll the easiest way is the neck.

We have to continuously work on a laptop sitting on a chair. This created an enormous amount of pressure on our neck. Sitting on a laptop for long durations leads to neck pain. This situation of the neck is called Cervicalgia in medical terms.

To take care of the back pain, one should:
  • Focus on their sitting posture
  • Take less stress
  • Incorporate Yoga in their lifestyle.

To strengthen your neck, try these Yoga asanas. These are very effective.

  1. Balasana:
Balasana is also known as CHild Pose. To do this pose, sit in Vajrasana and place your forehead on the floor. Then bring your arms above your head and stay in this position for a few breaths.

  1. Marjariasana:
This asana helps strengthen and relieve pain in the back and neck. To do this get on your hands and knees. Lift your back up inhaling and bring your head down. Exhaling lift your head up and get your back down. This asana also relieves your mind. 

  1. Viparit Karni Mudra:
For this inverted pose, just lift and rest your legs against the wall. This helps in improving blood circulation.  

  1. Vakrasana:
This pose involves twisting. It can be practiced anywhere. 

  1. Bhujangasana:
Lie on your stomach. Place your palms below your shoulder and lift your body from front till chest. This asana helps in relieving neck and back pain.

  1. Yastikasana:
This is also known as Stick pose. Lift both your arms and stretch in the opposite direction. 

  1. Shavasana:
This asana relieves all stress and tension of the body. Simply lie on your back with your arms and legs at some distance.

  1. Pranayama:
Pranayam are breathing techniques to enhance our lung, back and all body parts.

  1. Shoulder Rotations:
Do these to get rid of neck pain. These are very effective.
